In order to ensure a transparent coach selection process for the Dodger rep program the following steps are to be taken by the “Coach Appointment Committee” as indicated in the Constitution.

Step 1 Year End Interview and Discussion with Current Coaches (to be completed by Sept 30th) Coaches currently involved in the CLMSO Program will have an open discussion with the appointment committee and review the success of the team they led in that season. Current coaches will be asked if they would like to return to the same team the next year or be considered for another team. These coaches will receive priority in the coach appointment process as they have shown dedication and commitment to the game, the association and the players in the league. Should there be 2 or more current coaches vying for the same team an open discussion with all candidates will be moderated by the appointment committee to establish best choice ( ie appointment of coach, historical success, bench staff potential etc.) for CLMSO, the players and the league. If required a review by the Appointment Committee including reference checks with previous players and their families and coaches from other communities will take place. Step 2 Call out for coaches (to be completed October 1 to 31) Following appointment of current coaches, CLMSO will send out a call for coaches for the preceding season at all age levels tht a coach is required. The Call Out will include a request for expression of interest and require a resume and list of previous coaching experiences, coaching certifications, other community involvement and a completed Vulnerable Sector Check from the appropriate police department. Step 3 Review Process Coach candidates will be interviewed by the appointment committee using predetermined questions related to situations, scenarios, past experience, philosophy and expectations. They will also be asked about recruitment, commitment in the off season and willingness to attain coaching certifications. Reference Checks – Coaches will be required to provide 3 references to be checked by the appointment Committee and must include at minimum one participant or player and their family that the candidate has coached. Should there be experience in the CLMSO League then the appointment Committee may decide to randomly call up to 3 former players with permission from the Coach Candidate. NOTE: Should there be multiple parents interested in coaching in the house league program Step 3 will be used for the selection process.
